This section provides you with information about your job as a teaching assistant, legal issues, insurance, and teaching resources. All teaching assistants are required to read all the handbooks in the first section as they provide guidance on the pre-departure process and relevant information pertaining to work-related issues as well as daily life in Austria.
Handbooks and Downloads
The Fulbright Austria Pre-departure Handbook provides incoming USTAs with all the necessary information to prepare for a year abroad in Austria.
The memorandum for new USTAs summarizes the information from the Pre-departure Handbook and helps you navigate the most important action items such as the mandatory medical history form or the letter of acceptance. A complete list of USTAs currently residing in Austria can be found here. Teaching assistants who have applied for an extension of their assistantship position can find their letter of acceptance here.
The Austrian Ministry of Education and Women's Affairs (BMBF) has also issued a handbook (Leitfaden für AssistentInnen) which all U.S. Teaching Assistants are required to read.
